Due to increasing demand, every year there are great rush for

admission in medical colleges. Admissions are given on merit as well as quota basis. It is therefore necessary to have higher marks in

intermediate/A-Level to get admission in medical college. Educational expenses are reasonable in Government run colleges but colleges in private sector normally charge higher fees. Presently there are 100,000 registered doctors in Pakistan and every year approximately 5 thousands new doctors get graduation degree. Thus there is a dearth in Pakistan and more doctors are needed.

Job opportunities

Two choices are available before youths after getting M.B.B.S degree form medical colleges to enter into practical life. First choice is to become a general practitioner and open a clinic with some investment in a suitable locality or adopt the employment of some hospital. The second choice is that of higher education. Due to great number of doctors both these choices look difficult but not impossible.

General practice

If someone chooses to be general practitioner then one has to face some unrealistic situation as the curriculum that one studied in the medical colleges is not corresponding with that of practical needs of professional life. Doctors encounter difficulties curing modern diseases successfully merely on the basis of theoretical education and training. Thus for those who choose the field of general practitioner should work at least for six month each in the following branches after completing house job.
